Il faut imposer un embargo militaire contre Israël et mettre fin au siège de Gaza

Dix années de siège, deux ans depuis le massacre d'Israël en 2014 - c'est le moment de reconnaître la responsabilité d'Israël et d'imposer un embargo sur les achats et les ventes d'armes de ce pays. 

C'est le message du Palestinian BDS National Committee, la coalition la plus large d'organisations de la société civile palestinienne qui dirige le mouvement BDS en faveur des droits des Palestiniens.

Il y a deux ans, Israël lançait une attaque brutale contre les Palestiniens de Gaza, attaque qui a entraîné la mort de plus de 2'300 Palestiniens et le déplacement de 100'000 personnes. Israël a alors délibérément attaqué des zones civiles à Gaza et infligé le plus de souffrances humaines possibles.

Les Nations Unies et les organisations des droits humains ont fait des rapports sur les crimes de guerre israéliens pendant ce massacre. La Bande de Gaza est maintenant assiégée depuis 10 ans. une politique que L'historien israélien Ilan Pappé décrit cette politique comme étant "un génocide croissant" . Le siège a pratiquement empêché une réelle reconstruction depuis l'attaque de 2014.

 Comme l'exprime Abdulrahman Abunahel, notre coordinateur à Gaza: "Une de mes craintes est que plus longtemps Israël maintiendra ce siège de la plus grande prison à ciel ouvert du monde, plus la partie la plus officielle de la communauté internationale s'adaptera et acceptera la réduction graduelle et délibérée par Israël de Gaza à un camp de prisonniers inhabitable où près de 2 millions de Palestiniens affrontent une mort lente."

 "Mais en tant que réfugié vivant à Gaza il ne suffit pas d'appeler à la levée du siège israélien. Nous devons continuer à élargir nos campagnes BDS jusqu'à ce que le peuple palestinien pousse exercer son droit à l'auto-détermination, y compris de droit de retour des réfugiés."

Israel is able to carry out its brutal military attacks and repress Palestinian popular resistance with impunity. As our Links that Kill fact sheet sets out, Israel is only able to do this because of the massive weapons trade and military cooperation, including research, it maintains with countries across the world.

Over the period 2009-2018, the US is providing military aid to Israel worth $30bn. EU arms exports to Israel during 2014 alone were worth over $1bn (mostly from Germany) and its arms imports  reached a whopping $1.6 bn in 2015.

While India, Colombia and Brazil remain among the top importers of Israeli weapons, it has been recently revealed that Israel has supplied weapons that were used in committing crimes against humanity in Rwanda and South Sudan, among others.

Israel uses its criminal attacks on Palestinians to test its military technology and then exports its weapons as “field tested”. Up to 85% of Israel’s military industry production is exported and 60% of the world’s drones are manufactured by Israel.

Israel is not just oppressing Palestinians - it is exporting its ruthless model of securitization and militarized repression to the world. From the streets of Fergusonto the favelas of Rio to the borders of Fortress Europe, Israeli weapons and ruthless techniques are used to maintain oppression.

Our campaign for a two-way military embargo on Israel is growing. More than a dozen banks have divested from Elbit Systems over its role in Israel’s military violence, for example.
